Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is seeking an Estimator – Fit-Out to work on commercial construction projects across the UK. The role covers full turnkey fit-out, strip-out and refurbishment, with site surveys, quotations and tender submissions.

The ideal candidate will read drawings, manage BOQs, liaise with clients and internal teams, and contribute to competitive pricing on projects from £5k up to several million, with a base salary of £40k–£50k plus discretionary bonus and a company car allowance.

Qualifications

• Estimating experience within Fit-Out or closely related.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and contractual documentation.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Estimate across fit-out, strip-out and refurb projects in the UK.
• Interpret drawings and prepare BOQs and quotations.
• Negotiate with clients and project teams and maintain tender documentation.
• Travel across the UK to site surveys and meetings as required.

The role of Estimator – Fit-Out will involve:

• Estimator position dealing with range of commercial construction projects including fit-out, strip-out and refurb
• Typical projects include full turnkey solutions across medical, educational and leisure sectors
• Requirement to visit sites across the UK to conduct site surveys, attend project meetings and gather information required for estimating.
• Interpreting technical drawings, generating & following up quotations
• Negotiating with clients, project managers, quantity surveyors and internal estimating team
• Taking details from drawings to produce BOQs allowing for a timely return of quotations for customer deadlines
• Keeping good documentation of tenders and quotations on internal database
• Contacting customers, dealing with queries and providing additional technical information
• Working on projects ranging in value from £5000 to circa £5m+

The ideal applicant will be an Estimator – Fit-Out with:

• Must have Estimating experience within Fit-Out or closely related
• Would be open to someone within strip-out, refurb, new build or joinery
• Highly advantageous to have understanding of construction contracts and the ability to read and interpret contractual documentation.
• Good technical knowledge and good understanding of industry processes, materials and costs
• Stable career, highly organised with good attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• IT literate (Microsoft Office)
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
