Job summary

Kingdom People is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our construction and civil engineering team in Watford. You will prepare competitive tenders for major projects, analysing documents to define scope and collaborating with managers to reflect practical delivery.

The role offers opportunity to progress toward a Senior Estimator as the business grows, with a supportive team and varied regional projects. A strong bias toward accuracy and competitive pricing is required.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating for Building & Civil engineering or groundworks.
• Able to read tender docs, drawings and specifications.
• Strong numerical and analytical capabilities for cost estimation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for JCT & NEC civil packages.
• Analyse tender documents, drawings and specifications to define scope.
• Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors for quotations and cost data.
• Collaborate with project managers/engineers to reflect delivery methods.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.
• Maintain and update estimating tools and systems.

The Role

You will work as part of a collaborative and experienced team, preparing competitive tenders for a wide range of major projects for. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of JCT & NEC civil engineering and groundworks packages on major projects.
• Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to understand project scope.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and build cost databases.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates reflect practical delivery methods.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.
• Maintain and update estimating tools and systems.

The Candidate

• Proven experience in estimating within the Building & Civil engineering or groundworks sector, preferably on Civils / Energy projects
• Strong understanding of construction methods and pricing
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (not essential)
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• A proactive, driven, and ambitious mindset - keen to grow with the business
