Job summary

Lemon Drizzle Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Main Contractor to recruit an Estimator or Senior Estimator for their Newcastle office.

The role involves owning tenders from enquiry through submission for refurbishment and small works projects up to £5 million, developing accurate BOQs, evaluating quotations, and working closely with clients and the pre-construction team to secure future work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of tender enquiries up to £5 million, preparing competitive submissions.
• Produce and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates.
• Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations and assess project requirements.
• Identify risks and value engineering opportunities to ensure robust submissions.
• Collaborate with clients, subcontractors and the pre-construction team to win work.

Lemon Drizzle Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established and growing Main Contractor to recruit an Estimator or Senior Estimator for their Newcastle office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative business with a strong pipeline of refurbishment and small works projects across the North East. You'll play a key role in securing future work by managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, working closely with clients, subcontractors and the wider pre-construction team.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of tender enquiries ranging up to £5 million, preparing accurate and competitive submissions while identifying opportunities and mitigating commercial risk.

You will manage tender enquiries from initial enquiry through to submission, reviewing tender documentation, assessing project requirements and producing accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs). You’ll obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, prepare detailed cost estimates, identify project risks and value engineering opportunities, and ensure competitive, commercially robust submissions are produced. Working closely with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you’ll build strong relationships while supporting the successful delivery of refurbishment and small works projects valued up to £5 million.

About You

We’re keen to speak with Estimators from a main contracting background who have experience pricing refurbishment or commercial construction projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience within a main contractor
• Strong knowledge of subcontract packages and construction sequencing
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Good communication and relationship-building skills
• Existing North East supply chain relationships would be beneficial but are by no means essential
