Job summary

Cornerstone Project Source is seeking experienced Estimators for permanent roles in Essex. The positions cover flat roofing and multi-discipline estimating for cladding and facades, with project values from £50k to £4M+.

Immediate start, salary up to £65,000 per year DOE, permanent contract, based in Essex. You will prepare tenders, perform take-offs, compile bills and attend site and client meetings, using Bluebeam and Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing tenders and take-offs from drawings.
• Strong Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
• Bluebeam estimating software knowledge is a plus.
• Experience in flat roofing and rainscreen cladding.
• Understanding target U-values and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tenders and take-offs from construction drawings.
• Perform accurate take-offs from drawings to estimate costs.
• Calculate labour, material costs and prelim items.
• Populate bills of quantities and pricing schedules.
• Prepare marked-up drawings using Bluebeam.
• Attend handover meetings with surveying, design and management.

Job description

A leading specialist roofing and cladding contractor is currently looking for experienced, permanent Estimators in Essex, with positions available for both a Flat Roofing Estimator and a Multi-Discipline Estimator covering flat roofing and rainscreen cladding. The business specialises in fully supported hard metal roofing, facades, cladding systems and flat roofing, with project values ranging from £50k to £4M plus. Reporting to the Estimating Director, you will prepare tenders and take-offs across a varying size of projects.

Duties

• Prepare tenders and undertake take-offs from construction drawings, reading drawings, understanding specifications and using Excel to a good standard
• Undertake accurate take-offs from construction drawings
• Calculate rates, including labour, material costs and preliminary items
• Populate client bills of quantities and pricing schedules
• Prepare scope marked-up drawings using Bluebeam
• Attend handover meetings with surveying, design and management on secured projects
• Maintain accurate records of tender submissions, tender queries and RFIs
• Prepare tender bids and collate information from enquiries received
• Meet clients on site to negotiate the best price and understand requirements
• Develop and maintain relationships with key clients
• Research materials, equipment and labour costs
• Gather quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, assisting the Document Controller where required
• Assist the Document Controller with technical submittals for secured projects (Multi-Discipline position)
• Provide assistance to the design department on secured projects where required (Multi-Discipline position)
• Report to the Estimating Director with any technical and labour queries, and discuss bids before they are submitted to clients

Requirements

• Well versed in over-18m non-combustible cladding solutions and fire barriers
• An understanding of target U-values and calculations
• Good professional telephone skills and a smart appearance
• Computer literate, especially in Excel, Word, Outlook and Bluebeam
• Knowledge of Bluebeam estimating software (advantage)
• Estimating experience in all types of flat roofing (preferred; 5 years for the Multi-Discipline position), including but not limited to:
  • Manufacturers: Bauder, Radmat, IKO, Axter and Kemper
  • Inverted hot melt solutions, including ballasted, paved, green and blue roof systems
  • Single ply warm roofs
  • Tapered insulation schemes
  • Three-layer felt warm roofs
  • Cold applied liquids
• 5years' estimating experience inrainscreen cladding (preferred, Multi-Discipline position), including but not limited to:
  • SFS lightweight framing systems, e.g. Metsec and EOS
  • CWCT aluminium rainscreen cladding systems
  • Cavity / fire barriers
• Knowledge of other forms of roofing, e.g. standing seam, lead and tiling (advantage)

Working Pattern: Office based in Essex, with the possibility to eventually work from home occasionally for the right candidate
