Job summary

AWD Recruitment Limited in Barnsley area is seeking an Estimator to contribute to commercially sound tenders within an established engineering and manufacturing environment. You will assess enquiries, identify viable schemes and support client proposals.

The role requires detailed drawing and specification review, effective communication and relationship building with clients and internal teams, delivering accurate estimates to support tender activity and deadlines.

SALARY: Competitive Depending on Experience + Benefits

LOCATION: Wombwell, Barnsley, South Yorkshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Thursday 08:30-17:00, Friday 08:30-15:45

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an opportunity to contribute to commercially sound tenders within an established engineering and manufacturing environment.

The Estimator will assess enquiries, identify commercially viable schemes and support accurate client proposals. Working closely with clients and departments across the business, the Estimator will help keep estimating and tender activity running smoothly.

With a varied workload and deadline-driven environment, the Estimator will combine detailed drawing and specification review with clear communication and customer-focused relationship building.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Estimator include:

• Enquiry and Scheme Assessment: Manage enquiries and identify commercially viable schemes
• Client Relationship Development: Maintain and build current client relationships while supporting new relationships and business opportunities
• Estimating and Tender Coordination: Support the smooth estimating and tender process by liaising closely with clients and departments across the business
• Detailed Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed estimates for clients using drawings and specifications

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels
• Ability to manage a varied workload and work to tight deadlines
• Thorough practical understanding of the estimating process
• Ability to work from detailed drawings and specifications

DESIRABLE

• Relevant qualification in an appropriate technical or engineering-related discipline
• Previous structural steel experience
