Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and costing methodologies.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and Excel skills.
• Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with a professional and positive approach.
• Proactive problem solver who can work independently and in a team.
• Able to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Review technical drawings and specifications.
• Prepare detailed project cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor costs.
• Manage end-to-end bid process, including proposals and bid management.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, vendors and internal teams.
• Obtain competitive pricing and lead times from suppliers.
• Support sourcing and manufacture of components for projects.
• Produce spend and production capacity forecasts.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Estimator, you’ll play a key role in preparing accurate and commercially competitive estimates for the manufacture and supply of high-precision engineering components and assemblies.

• Review technical engineering drawings and specifications
• Prepare detailed project cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment and subcontractor costs

What we’re looking for:

You’ll ideally have a strong mechanical engineering background combined with purchasing, estimating or commercial experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

• Mechanical engineering experience, ideally supported by an indentured apprenticeship or equivalent
• At least 5 years’ purchasing experience within engineering or manufacturing
• Confident reading engineering drawings with a good understanding of GD&T
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, raw materials and costing methodologies
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills
• Excellent numerical, analytical and Excel skills
• Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
• Confident communicator with a professional and positive approach
• A proactive problem solver who can work independently and as part of a team
