Job summary

DCS Recruitment Limited in Cardiff is seeking an Estimating Engineer to support piping, mechanical, MEP and fabrication projects. You will prepare detailed estimates, review drawings and tender docs, and liaise with engineering, project and commercial teams to ensure accurate cost deliverables.

The role suits an experienced estimator or project engineer with strong Excel skills and commercial awareness, offering a full-time permanent position with up to £50k per annum DOE.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating, piping or mechanical engineering.
• Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs and specifications.
• Experience completing material take-offs and cost build-ups.
• Strong numerical and commercial awareness.
• Excellent attention to detail and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates and quotations for piping, mechanical, MEP and fabrication works.
• Develop estimates for liquid cooling and HVAC systems, including chilled water and process cooling.
• Complete material take-offs, labour estimates and cost build-ups.
• Review drawings, P&IDs, specifications and tender documentation to establish project requirements.
• Prepare supplier and subcontractor RFQs and assess returned quotations.
• Develop construction methodologies, resource requirements and logistics.
• Identify project risks and opportunities for value engineering.
• Support tender submissions and liaise with engineering, project, operations and commercial teams.
