Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Estates Sustainability Manager to join the Energy and Sustainability Team within BSD. The role focuses on embedding change across Estates & Facilities Management to deliver a decarbonised estate and sustainable design principles.

The position can be based from any UK office with occasional travel to regional sites for meetings and events. You will drive reporting, strategy alignment, and engagement across E&FM to reduce energy, water and waste footprints.

Qualifications

• Good organisational and project management skills.
• Strong understanding of corporate sustainability and technical sustainability in built environment.
• Experience in built environment/sustainability sector working on environmental strategy and resource management.

Responsibilities

• Embed the Estates Decarbonisation Plan across E&FM with collaborative working, communications and reporting.
• Own the sustainability annex within the Estates and FM design guide for new build or retrofit depots/outstate.
• Be the subject matter expert across environmental sustainability for projects in Estates and FM.
• Lead the Green Network behaviour change campaign, organising monthly meetings and annual in-person events to increase engagement and reduce staff impact on the environment.
• Support the wider E+FM division across environmental sustainability including climate change adaptation and biodiversity, aligning with Greening Government Commitments.
