Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking an Estates Surveyor to join our Estates Management Function within Property Service. You will manage a diverse portfolio, handle complex valuations, lease negotiations, and support strategic regeneration projects, helping shape the local community with smart, sustainable property management.

You'll need Full RICS qualification (MRICS) and relevant experience across commercial, operational and land assets.

Qualifications

• MRICS qualification and MRICS membership is required.
• Experience with valuations and lease negotiations.
• Knowledge of RICS standards and property portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Manage leases, licenses, and rights over Council land and property
• Conduct property inspections and valuations using RICS standards
• Support regeneration and development projects across the region
• Maximise income from Council-owned commercial assets
• Contribute to strategic property initiatives
• Maintain accurate property data and risk registers
• Liaise with consultants, developers, and public bodies
• Prepare reports for committees and funding bodies
• Promote innovative working practices and customer-focused outcomes
• Represent the Council at public and stakeholder events
