Job summary

Serco is seeking a Maintenance Assurance Manager in Dumfries to lead planning, assurance and delivery of critical estates maintenance within a busy hospital environment. You will ensure statutory compliance, drive high service standards and maintain safe, reliable facilities that support patient care.

In this role you will manage CAFM scheduling, oversee M&E maintenance and coordinate subcontractors, with on-call duties possibly required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hard facilities management in healthcare or a Private Finance Initiative environment.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance and planned preventative maintenance principles.
• Ability to analyse complex operational data, produce detailed reports and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day planning and management of building fabric and M&E maintenance services across the hospital estate.
• Ensure statutory, mandatory and contractual maintenance obligations are met and evidenced.
• Manage subcontractor performance and contractual relationships to support service excellence.
• Oversee CAFM scheduling, reporting and asset maintenance programmes.
• Support environmental and estate condition audits and identify future maintenance needs.
• Develop contingency plans and drive continuous improvement in maintenance activities.

What You’ll Do As a Maintenance Assurance Manager

• Lead the day-to-day planning and management of building fabric and mechanical and electrical (M&E) maintenance services across the hospital estate.
• Ensure all statutory, mandatory and contractual maintenance obligations are achieved and evidenced.
• Manage subcontractor performance, contractual relationships and renewal activities to support service excellence.
• Oversee Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) scheduling, reporting and asset maintenance programmes.
• Support environmental and estate condition audits, identifying future maintenance requirements and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop contingency plans, minimise operational disruption and drive continuous improvement across maintenance activities.

Does this sound like you?

• Experience leading hard facilities management maintenance services, ideally within a healthcare or Private Finance Initiative (PFI) environment.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance, planned preventative maintenance and asset management principles.
• Ability to analyse complex operational data, produce detailed reports and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.
• Degree qualified, equivalent professional qualification, or substantial experience within a hard facilities management environment.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification and knowledge of NHS Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and Health Building Notes (HBN) would be advantageous.

Vetting and checks

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities.
