Job summary

Moxie People are recruiting an Estates Project Manager for a Cardiff-based role with hybrid working options. The role focuses on leading refurbishment, maintenance and capital improvement across the estate, coordinating contractors, budgets, compliance and safety.

A third-sector background is preferred to align with the hospice’s mission. You will work with senior stakeholders, manage procurement, and drive forward redevelopment initiatives while maintaining high standards of facilities

Qualifications

• Experienced Estates/Facilities/Property professional with third-sector background.
• Able to lead refurbishment and capital improvement projects.
• Strong contractor, supplier and stakeholder management skills and compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead refurbishment, maintenance and capital improvement projects across the estate.
• Manage contractors, consultants and external suppliers to deliver on time and within budget.
• Support planning and delivery of future redevelopment and estate improvement programmes.
• Oversee maintenance contracts and monitor contractor performance.
• Identify and prioritise estate improvement requirements with stakeholders.
• Support health & safety, fire safety, statutory compliance and risk management.
• Manage project budgets, quotations, procurement and financial reporting.
• Develop and maintain planned maintenance programmes.
• Support business continuity planning and operational resilience.
• Ensure buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
• Produce reports, project updates and recommendations for senior leaders.

Estates Project Manager

Cardiff | £47,000 - £52,000 DOE

35 hours per week | Permanent

Predominantly site-based with flexibility for some remote working

Moxie People are delighted to be supporting a well-respected Cardiff hospice to recruit an Estates Project Manager.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the future development of an organisation that delivers vital support across Cardiff. You'll take ownership of estates improvement projects, facilities planning and compliance activities, helping to ensure buildings and infrastructure remain safe, effective and fit for the future.

We're looking for an experienced estates, facilities or property professional who has third-sector experience and can combine project delivery, contractor management and compliance expertise with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

About the role

As Estates Project Manager, you'll lead refurbishment, maintenance and improvement projects across the estate, ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant and well-maintained.

Working closely with contractors, suppliers and senior stakeholders, you'll manage estate-related projects from concept through to completion, while supporting the wider operational management of buildings, facilities and health & safety compliance.

This is a varied role that combines capital projects, facilities management, budget control, contractor management and compliance oversight, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both strategic planning and hands-on project delivery.

Key responsibilities

About you

You'll thrive in this role if you:

• Have experience managing estates, facilities, property or capital projects


• Have delivered refurbishment, redevelopment or building improvement programmes


• Have strong contractor, supplier and stakeholder management experience


• Understand statutory compliance, health & safety and risk management requirements


• Have experience managing project budgets, procurement and financial controls


• Can manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously


• Are confident working independently and taking ownership of delivery


• Have strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills


• Are comfortable working with senior leaders and providing operational advice


• Ideally have experience within education, healthcare, housing, charity, local government or another regulated environment
