Job summary

Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an engineering professional to manage staff, oversee day-to-day operations, and lead maintenance and compliance across hospital sites. Responsibilities

• Manage staff and day-to-day operations and maintenance of Engineering Plant and systems at Trust properties and hospital sites.
• Provide professional and technical support to the Estates Operational Management Team.
• Lead validation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of decontamination, sterilisation and disinfection equipment.
• Plan and complete annual maintenance programmes for Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems (HTM 03) and Water Systems (HTM 04).
• Liaise with the Responsible Person Legionella to prevent legionella bacteria.
• Develop and review planned preventative maintenance programmes and recording systems.
• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, codes of practice, HTMs and health guidance notes.
• Carry out condition appraisals of Engineering Plant and Systems including sterilizers and washer disinfectors.
• Submit business cases for replacement or upgrade costings for complex Engineering Systems and Plant Replacement Programmes.
• Approve invoices on E-fin in-line with SFI's and SFO's.
• Support the Deputy Head of Engineering and Estates Operations Managers on Estates operational matters.
• Overview of Humber Health Partnership as a large NHS collaboration.
• Teaching Hospitals collaborate with Hull York Medical School on biomedical research and related fields.

Job description

Responsible for managing staff, the provision of day-to-day operations and maintenance services in respect of Engineering Plant and systems at designated Trust properties and hospital sites. Provide professional and technical support to the Estates Operational Management Team on delegated duties, taking a lead role for the provision of validation, testing, commissioning and maintenance services in respect of decontamination, sterilisation and disinfection equipment in use throughout the Trust., Control engineering technician/trade staff, support as required to complete maintenance and testing programmes for sterilisers/washer disinfectors (HTM 01-01), which involves liaison with other Operations and Maintenance officers to identify labour resource requirements.

Complete programmes of maintenance annually to ensure the performance and hygiene of Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems (HTM 03) and Water Systems (HTM 04,) including liaison with the 'Responsible Person Legionella' for legionella bacteria prevention.

Develop, implement and review planned preventative maintenance programmes and recording systems to ensure compliance with Statutory Legislation, Codes of Practice, Hospital Technical Memoranda and Health Guidance Notes

Carry out condition appraisals of Engineering Plant and Systems including sterilisers and washer disinfectors and submit business cases for replacement/upgrade costings for complex Engineering Systems and Plant Replacement Programmes as required.
