Job summary

Wimbledon High School, part of the GDST, is seeking a hands-on Estates Operative to join a busy, supportive team. You will carry out minor repairs, help set up spaces for events and conduct site checks to ensure a safe, secure school environment.

Candidates should have practical DIY or handyperson skills, with experience in painting, carpentry or basic plumbing, and a strong health and safety awareness. You will work with contractors and take initiative to keep the site running smoothly,

Qualifications

• Practical DIY or handyperson skills with experience in general repairs.
• Strong health and safety awareness and security procedures.
• Physical ability to lift and carry furniture and equipment.
• Good organisation and time management.
• Effective communication and team collaboration.
• Willingness to undertake training and support events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor DIY repairs and general building maintenance.
• Help with furniture moves, deliveries, room setups and school events.
• Keep the site tidy and support security patrols, inspections and compliance checks.
• Support contractors and help ensure their work is carried out safely.
• Play a role in fire safety, first aid and wider emergency arrangements.
• Support day-to-day operation of the school site.
