Job summary

Retirement Villages Group are recruiting a skilled Facilities Manager to join Debden Grange Retirement Village in Saffron Walden. You’ll play a key role in keeping our village safe, well-maintained and welcoming for residents, staff and visitors.

This hands-on role leads a small team of Estates Operatives, oversees external contractors, and manages budgets to ensure high standards across buildings, grounds, housekeeping, safety systems and customer service.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or above qualification in Facilities Management or equivalent.
• 3+ years' experience managing estates or residential facilities, preferably in a retirement village or similar.
• IOSH Managing Safely and Legionella awareness certification.
• Good knowledge of fire, water and building safety requirements.
• Experience managing PPM programmes, budgets and external contractors.
• Strong IT skills including Office 365 and FM systems.
• Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• Clear communicator who works well with residents and teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of village buildings, communal areas, equipment and grounds.
• Lead Estates Operatives and manage external contractors.
• Plan rotas, meetings and workloads to support the village operations.
• Monitor costs, procurement and contractor performance for value for money.
• Ensure safety systems, emergency calls and fire alarms are tested and maintained.
• Support preparation of properties for resale or rental and minimise voids.
• Liaise with Residents’ Association and resident committees, gathering feedback.
