Job summary

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Estates Maintenance Building Fabric Technician to deliver a comprehensive building fabric maintenance service across the Trust’s estate. You will perform joinery, carpentry and general building works, including PPMs and reactive repairs, while ensuring safety and minimal disruption to clinical services.

The role involves surveying, estimating materials, and supervising contractors when needed.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Advanced Craft, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, Building Maintenance or related trade
• Additional qualifications in plumbing, painting/decorating, locksmithing, roofing or multi-trade maintenance
• Experience in maintenance and repair of doors, fire doors, windows, flooring, ceilings, partitions, roofing, ironmongery, glazing and general building fabric.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain the building fabric, fixtures and fittings across the Trust properties and current service contracts.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance with high-quality craft standards.
• Supervise contractors or apprentices when required and liaise with staff daily to minimize disruption.
• Estimate costs and materials for minor works and ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain stock levels and use CAFM/PDA systems to manage activities.
