Job summary

Tech-People is seeking an experienced Fabric Technician to work on a hospital site in Stockton-on-Tees. The contract starts 7 September 2026 and runs initially until the end of October 2026, with 40 hours per week from 11:30am to 8:35pm. PAYE rate is £14.66 per hour (umbrella £19.09).

The role involves reactive maintenance, PPMs and minor project works across the hospital. The ideal candidate will have fabric maintenance and carpentry experience, a valid Basic DBS, a full UK driving licence and

Qualifications

• Previous fabric maintenance and carpentry experience.
• City & Guilds or NVQ in Carpentry preferred.
• Experience in high-profile environments.
• Valid Basic DBS essential.
• Full UK driving licence.
• PC literate and good communication skills.
• Ability to read technical drawings and instructions.
• Own tools and PPE required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to reactive maintenance works at the hospital site.
• Repair floor and wall coverings as needed.
• Repair and replace ceiling tiles.
• Carry out general fabric, carpentry and building maintenance.
• Repair doors, ironmongery and related installations.
• Change lighting and general lamp fittings.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks.
• Replace filters on AHUs/FCUs as required.
• Complete reactive and PPM jobs within timescales.
• Carry out minor project works and site surveys.
• Assist with RAMS and Works Requests documentation.
• Liaise professionally with client representatives.
• Record completed works using a PDA and provide updates.
• Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety regulations.

We are currently looking for an experienced Fabric Technician to work on a hospital site in Stockton-on-Tees for a major Building Services / Facilities Management company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out reactive maintenance, PPMs and minor project works across the hospital.

Duties

• Responding to reactive maintenance works
• Repairs to floor and wall coverings
• Ceiling tile repairs and replacements
• General fabric, carpentry and building maintenance
• Door, ironmongery and general installation repairs
• Lighting and general lamp changes
• Basic plumbing works
• Filter changes to AHUs / FCUs
• Completing reactive and PPM jobs within agreed timescales
• Carrying out minor project works
• Completing site surveys and assisting with RAMS and Works Requests
• Liaising professionally with the client's representatives
• Using a PDA to record completed works and provide updates
• Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations

Requirements

• Previous fabric maintenance and carpentry experience
• City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent in Carpentry preferred
• Experience working in a high-profile environment
• Valid Basic DBS – essential
• Full UK driving licence
• PC literate
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Ability to understand technical drawings, instructions and processes
• Able to organise your own workload and identify material requirements
• Own tools and PPE
