Job summary

Hertfordshire Constabulary seeks a Head of Estate Operations to lead and transform our operational estate, ensuring properties operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with statutory requirements. Reporting directly to the Director of Estates and Facilities, you will oversee strategic planning and daily delivery, securing best value and robust risk management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Facilities Management or equivalent technical apprenticeship with trade qualifications.
• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Professional membership in IWFM/BIFM, RICS or CIOB.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational estate management and ensure safety and compliance across all properties.
• Oversee budgeting: £2.0m direct and £9.0m indirect; manage procurement, invoices, cash flow and KPI/SLAs across TFMA.
• Collaborate with the Director of Estates and Facilities on long-term estate strategy and with the Head of Capital Projects on sustainability.
• Ensure risk, auditing and continuous service improvement processes are in place across all sites.
• Lead, mentor and develop Estates staff, conduct PDRs and support career progression.
