Job summary

Bethany School is seeking a dependable Grounds Maintenance Operative to join the Estates team and help maintain the extensive grounds and facilities to the highest standard.

Working under the Head of Grounds, you will maintain sports pitches, lawns, landscaped areas and broader estate, while supporting maintenance projects across the campus. Role is full time, on-site, with Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:00pm commitments.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence.
• At least five years’ experience within the gardening or grounds maintenance sector.
• Experience in timber construction, landscaping or building work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Mowing, strimming, hedge cutting and tree pruning.
• Maintaining sports facilities, including line marking and equipment installation.
• Fencing repairs and installations.
• Grounds improvement projects and landscaping works.
• Operating grounds maintenance machinery, including ride-on mowers and tractors.
• General maintenance and repair work, including painting, basic plumbing and timber repairs.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the estate.
• Supporting site improvement projects and responding to urgent maintenance issues where required.
