Job summary

St Edward’s School in the United Kingdom is seeking a Grounds Operative to join the Grounds Department. Set on a 100‑acre estate, you will help maintain the grounds, residential spaces and sports facilities, working as part of a friendly, supportive team.

Responsibilities include mowing, hedge work, turf care, litter collection and safe operation of grounds machinery. A genuine interest in outdoor work and ability to work year-round are essential. A driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance or gardening is desirable.
• Interest in outdoor work is essential.
• Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance of lawns, landscaped areas, residential spaces and sports surfaces.
• Preparation and upkeep of sports pitches, including mowing and setting out.
• Hedge cutting, planting, pruning and general horticultural tasks.
• Turf care, footpath maintenance and litter collection.
• Safe use and basic maintenance of grounds machinery and equipment.
• Supporting School activities and events when required.
