Job summary

McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading retirement living provider, seeks a House Manager for the Handforth estate in Cheshire. You will lead a welcoming, safe, and independent lifestyle for residents, acting as the front-of-house contact and coordinating events while managing suppliers and estate operations.

The role emphasizes excellent communication, proactive service, and a focus on wellbeing for homeowners and families. Hours are 30 per week with a salary around £22,557.60 and bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and proactive attitude.
• Experience in a customer-facing or service management role.
• Professionalism and commitment to high-quality service.
• Enjoys variety and takes initiative in a busy environment.
• Can solve problems effectively and remain calm under pressure.
• Awareness of Health and Safety (training provided).
• Holds or is willing to obtain first aid qualifications (training provided).
• Experience in property management is an advantage.
• Enjoys organising events.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming new homeowners and helping them settle into their new homes.
• Providing a front-of-house service and engaging with visitors.
• Being the first point of contact for residents and offering assistance.
• Managing supplier relationships for smooth day-to-day operations.
• Acting as the face of McCarthy & Stone for residents' families.
• Handling resident concerns with sensitivity, confidentiality, and respect.
• Overseeing estate management, including communal areas, gardens, and grounds.
• Supporting community development through social events and resident meetings.
• Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
