Estate Caretaker & Grounds Technician

Job summary

Orwell in Ipswich is seeking a Caretaker to maintain communal areas, grounds and estates to a high standard, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm. You’ll work closely with residents to provide a responsive caretaking and gardening service, respond to emergencies outside normal hours, and help foster a safe neighbourhood environment.

A full UK driving licence is required. We do not offer visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• National Certificate in Horticulture or facilities management or equivalent.
• 4 GCSEs A-C including English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs, prepare void properties, and liaise with tenants and contractors.
• Maintain communal grounds, including grass cutting, weeding, pruning, and stairwell cleaning.
• Complete end-of-tenancy inspections for properties due to become vacant.
• Help prevent vandalism by monitoring communal areas, car parks and CCTV where appropriate.
• Conduct regular estate walkabouts with Police, local authorities, business representatives, and the Head of Estate Services, including outside normal working hours.
• Represent Orwell, building positive relationships with tenants and partner organisations.

Education
