Job summary

Orwell Housing Association Ltd in Ipswich is seeking a diligent Caretaker to maintain communal areas, grounds and estates to a high standard, working closely with residents to keep communities clean, safe and welcoming.

You will carry out minor repairs, garden duties, end-of-tenancy inspections, and respond to estate emergencies beyond hours. A full UK driving licence and basic DBS check are required; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Caretaking and gardening duties are part of daily responsibilities.
• Ability to liaise with tenants and contractors.
• Basic DBS clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs, prepare void properties, and liaise with tenants and contractors.
• Maintain communal grounds, including grass cutting, weeding, pruning, and stairwell cleaning.
• Complete end-of-tenancy inspections for properties due to become vacant.
• Help prevent vandalism by monitoring communal areas, car parks and CCTV where appropriate.
• Conduct regular estate walkabouts with Police, local authorities, business representatives, and the Head of Estate Services, including outside normal working hours.

Job description

As a Caretaker, you'll play a key role in creating clean, safe, and welcoming communities by maintaining communal areas, grounds and estates to a high standard. Working closely with residents, you'll provide a responsive caretaking and gardening service, take pride in the appearance of the estate, and help foster a positive neighbourhood environment. You'll also be on hand to respond to emergencies on the estate when they arise outside of normal working hours and you are available to assist. Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and provide relevant documentation if appointed, As a Caretaker, you will:
