Job summary

Mansfield District Council is seeking an Estate Caretaker to maintain council-owned areas, keeping fly tipped rubbish, litter, graffiti and debris to a minimum while ensuring safe, tidy surroundings across residential blocks.

You will conduct regular inspections of communal areas within blocks of flats to check compliance with health and safety, building and fire regulations, and assist the tenancy management and compliance teams as part of an ongoing inspection regime.

Qualifications

• Experience or understanding of health and safety, building and fire regulations is desirable.
• Full driving licence is required.

Job description

As Estate Caretaker you will ensure that areas owned and managed by the council are well maintained and kept free from fly tipped rubbish, debris, graffiti, and litter.

You will be required to undertake inspections of communal areas within blocks of flats to ensure compliance with health and safety, building and fire regulations.

The council owns 350 blocks of flats with 250 having communal areasalong with 10 sheltered schemes and over 30 tenant meeting rooms. The council has aduty to inspect and maintain anycommunal areas and ensure they are safe from acompliance point of view(fire safety, lifts, legionellaand asbestos), they must inspect fire doors and keep Means of Escape clear and ensure communal areas are kept tidy. This inspection regime is a statutory requirement and will range from weekly tomonthly checks depending on the nature of the compliancecomponent.These roles will be integral to this ongoing programme of inspection and re-inspectiontoachieve andmaintaincompliance.

Their work will beallocatedby both the tenancy management service as well as compliance teams.

The successful candidate will require a full drivers' licence.
