Job summary

Mansfield District Council is seeking an Estate Caretaker to maintain council-owned areas and keep them free from litter, graffiti and debris. Job description

As Estate Caretaker you will ensure that areas owned and managed by the council are well maintained and kept free from fly tipped rubbish, debris, graffiti, and litter.

You will be required to undertake inspections of communal areas within blocks of flats to ensure compliance with health and safety, building and fire regulations.

The council owns 350 blocks of flats with 250 having communal areas along with 10 sheltered schemes and over 30 tenant meeting rooms. The council has a duty to inspect and maintain any communal areas and ensure they are safe from a compliance point of view (fire safety, lifts, legionella and asbestos), they must inspect fire doors and keep Means of Escape clear and ensure communal areas are kept tidy. This inspection regime is a statutory requirement and will range from weekly to monthly checks depending on the nature of the compliance component. These roles will be integral to this ongoing programme of inspection and re-inspection to achieve and maintain compliance.

Their work will be allocated by both the tenancy management service as well as compliance teams.

The successful candidate will require a full drivers’ licence.
