Job summary

ESS Employment Ltd in Stonehouse is seeking a Production Assistant to join the Production and Operations team. You will help meet production goals, maintain quality, and follow safe work systems, reporting to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities include assembling chains, using hand tools, monitoring stock, goods inwards, despatch, and potential forklift operation. Immediate start, permanent full-time position with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in production is helpful.
• Familiarity with safety procedures in manufacturing environments.
• Basic reading of engineering drawings and SOPs will be provided training.

Vacancy – Production Assistant

You will work closely with other members of the Production and Operations team to meet production goals, maintain high-quality standards, and adhere to safe systems of work. You will be reporting to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare steel chain flights using tools and machinery. Assemble chains to the correct configurations according to BOM’s, specifications and operational instructions.
• Use hand tools and equipment to assemble components into finished chains and other products.
• Monitoring consumable stock levels and communicating with Procurement on re-ordering.
• Assist with Goods Inwards and Despatch duties.
• Inspection of goods.
• May be required to operate Forklift Truck, training to be discussed.
• May need to perform local deliveries or collections, using company Pool Vehicle.

You will work collaboratively with other team members to reduce bottlenecks and maintain the flow of production, ensuring daily targets and on time delivery are met. You may be asked to assist in other areas of the business, dependent on the requirements of the business.

Experience and skills:

Previous experience in production would be helpful or exposure to a Factory/Warehouse environment. Familiarity with safety procedures and industry standards in manufacturing environments.

Skills:

• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and machines.
• A clean UK Drivers Licence is desirable.
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Ability to read basic engineering drawings, instructions and SOP’s, training will be provided.

Physical requirements:

The role requires a reasonable level of fitness to assemble the products together on the bench (the final assembled parts will be lifted using a overhead crane).
