Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a skilled CNC Operator for a double day shift in the UK. You will operate CNC machines, perform daily checks, and maintain safe, high‑quality production in the machine shop.

Responsibilities include setting up machines, interpreting engineering drawings, monitoring output, and supporting trainees. A GCSE or equivalent plus basic CNC competence is required; further training will be provided. This permanent role offers steady hours and shift allowances.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs or equivalent; basic CNC competence and reading drawings are essential.
  • Experience in a metalworking/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and work within health, safety and quality policies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more CNC machines in the cell.
  • Carry out daily machine health checks and documentation.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerance specs.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and reduce scrap.
  • Mentor new staff and apprentices as required.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality control to meet delivery dates.

ESS7032N - CNC Operator - Double Day Shift

HOURS: Double Day Shift on weekly rotation – 37.5 hours per week

Early Shift - Monday – Thursday: 06.00am -14.00pm

Early Shift – Friday: 06.00am – 11.00am

Late Shift - Monday - Thursday 14.00pm – 22.00pm

Late Shift - Friday – 11.00am – 17.30pm

START DATE: Immediate

SALARY: Depending on experience plus shift allowance.

Vacancy – X 4 CNC Operator – Double Day Shift

This role provides the business with the running of one or more CNC machines in the relevant CNC Cell. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work. Ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements and full commitment to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies & management system. Setters are responsible for crafting and maintaining precision parts and components, which are crucial in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing.

Work directly affects product quality, safety, and overall efficiency in the production process.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for operating one or more CNC machines in the Cell.

• Responsible for daily machine health check list.

• Responsible for traveler bookings, documents, in the Cell.

• Responsible for stamping own work.

• Assist with other duties at the discretion of the Production Team Leader.

• Maintain a safe and tidy work environment.

• Participate in training when required.

• Minimise the level of scrap components.

• To mentor and support any new staff or apprentices which are working within the Machine Shop.

• To actively work with the Production Team Leader and Production Manager to establish key delivery dates/requirements.

• Communicate workshop issues to the CNC Setter / Charge Hand’s, and Production Team Leader.

• Collaborating with engineers, designers, and quality control professionals. Their input and precision in crafting components are highly influential in ensuring that final products meet design specifications and quality standards.

• Provide feedback on design improvements and process optimization.

Requirements:

• GCSE’s or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering qualifications preferably craft apprenticeship or equivalent.

• Basic CNC programming and machine competence.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to be able to read and understand engineering drawings.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations.

• Interpreting detailed technical drawings and blueprints to create or repair intricate components. Precision and attention to detail are paramount, as even minor errors can result in costly defects or safety hazards.

• Stay up to date with advancements in machining technology, software, and materials, requiring a commitment to ongoing learning and skill development.

• Problem-solving skills and adaptability to handle various machining tasks and challenges.

Setters typically work with a variety of resources and tools, including lathes, milling machines, CNC (computer numerical control) equipment, and an array of hand and power tools. They also work with various materials, such as metals, plastics, and composites. In addition to physical resources, machinists may use software and computer programs to program and control CNC machines.
