Job summary

Sungrow Europe is seeking a senior ESS Delivery Project Manager to lead utility-scale battery energy storage projects in the UK from award to commissioning and handover.

You will own execution strategy, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets and risk, and maintain strong customer and partner relationships across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a comparable technical discipline.
• +2 years in project coordination or delivery, preferably in ESS, solar, or electrical infrastructure.
• Experience delivering complex projects from award to handover.
• Strong knowledge of BESS technology and grid interfaces.
• Contract management, budgets, change control, risk management.
• Proven leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• English at C1 level; other European languages a plus.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of ESS and BESS projects across the UK.
• Own the project execution strategy, including schedules, resource plans, cost control, risk registers, and mitigation actions.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers, EPC partners, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage contractual obligations, variations, claims, payment milestones, and project reporting with commercial/legal teams.
• Coordinate engineering, supply chain, logistics, service, commissioning, and quality teams to ensure site handover.
• Lead project governance, resolve escalations, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned.

• Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects from contract award through commissioning, acceptance testing, and customer handover.


• Strong knowledge of BESS technology, electrical systems, grid connection interfaces, construction activities, and commissioning processes.


• Solid experience in contract management, budget ownership, change control, risk management, and stakeholder negotiation.


• Confident leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional and multicultural project teams.


• English C1; additional European languages are a plus.


• Willingness to travel regularly across the UK and occasionally within Europe.
