Job summary

Mint Selection is seeking a Senior Project Manager to own the delivery of a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the UK, from pre-construction through energisation. You will lead design, procurement and construction activities, coordinating internal and external teams to meet programme, cost and quality targets.

This role requires proven leadership on energy or infrastructure projects (200MW+), strong financial management, and capable contractor engagement.

Qualifications

Job description

Our client is a UK developer and owner of battery storage and flexible generation, with a multi-gigawatt pipeline that is moving from consent into delivery. They are hiring a Senior Project Manager to take direct ownership of a utility-scale BESS project, from pre-construction through to energisation. This is a delivery role at the point where the UK’s largest storage assets stop being planning consents and become operating infrastructure.

The Company

An investor-backed platform with one of the larger BESS pipelines in the country, including 400kV transmission-connected sites and a flagship project already in construction. You would join a divisional leadership environment where engineering, commercial and project services sit close together, so decisions are made quickly and your input carries weight. Teams are in-house and multidisciplinary, and there is a clear route to Project Director as the pipeline matures.

Key Responsibilities

• Own delivery of an assigned BESS 400MW+ projects, managing scope, programme, cost and quality through design, construction and commissioning.
• Lead contractor engagement, including early contractor involvement, value engineering and head contract tendering and execution.
• Run a multidisciplinary team of internal and external resources, with monthly delivery plans, cost reports and status reporting to senior leadership.
• Manage HSE, statutory compliance, contract administration and commercial issues as they arise, escalating and resolving them with technical and commercial credibility.

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven delivery of energy or infrastructure projects as project lead, with significant CapEx under your personal responsibility.
• Experience across design, procurement, construction and commissioning, ideally on BESS, solar, thermal generation or other 200MW+ energy projects.
• Working knowledge of procurement and contracting models, with experience negotiating packages, pricing and risk with contractors.
• Strong financial management, including forecasting, schedule control and design management.
• Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred, and EPC or principal contractor experience is beneficial. Candidates currently stepping up from Project Manager are welcome.
