Hertford Regional College in Broxbourne is recruiting an enthusiastic ESOL Lecturer to deliver Level 1 ESOL evening classes for adult learners at the Broxbourne Campus. This temporary evening post offers 6 teaching hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00pm to 9:00pm, with start date 15 September 2026 or as soon as possible.

Herts Resourcing Group is recruiting for an enthusiastic ESOL Lecturer to deliver Level 1 ESOL evening classes for adult learners at Hertford Regional College's Broxbourne Campus.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ESOL tutor or lecturer looking for additional evening teaching hours and the chance to make a real difference to adult learners developing their English language skills and confidence.

About the Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and supportive Level 1 ESOL lessons to adult learners.

You will help students develop their English language and communication skills while creating a welcoming learning environment where learners feel confident participating and progressing.

Lessons should be engaging, accessible and relevant to learners, helping them develop English skills that can support them in everyday life, further study and employment.

Teaching Hours

Tuesday: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Thursday: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Total: 6 teaching hours per week

The role is due to commence on Tuesday 15 September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Level 1 ESOL lessons.
  • Support adult learners in developing their English language and communication skills.
  • Adapt teaching and learning activities to meet individual learner needs.
  • Create an inclusive, positive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Assess and monitor learner progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback and additional support where required.
  • Encourage learners to develop confidence and independence in using English.
  • Maintain appropriate learner records and complete relevant administrative duties.
About You
  • Experience teaching ESOL to adult learners.
  • Experience teaching at Level 1 or a similar level.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • The ability to adapt your teaching to learners with differing needs and levels of confidence.
  • A patient, encouraging and learner-focused approach.
  • The ability to plan engaging and accessible lessons.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or appropriate teaching experience.

Previous experience within a further education or adult learning environment would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be required to complete the Herts Resourcing Group compliance process, including appropriate ID and right-to-work checks, references, an Enhanced DBS check and relevant mandatory training.
