Job summary

North Star Ltd in Scotland is seeking a 2nd Engineer for our ERRV fleet. This is a permanent position with a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation, starting 12 October 2026.

Candidates must hold a 2nd Engineer CoC and have ERRV experience; OPITO ERRV ITSO and FRC Boatman courses are required. The role covers ship machinery, safety, maintenance, and reporting to the Chief Engineer, with a contributory pension and Employee Assistance Programme.

Qualifications

• 2nd Engineer CoC is required.
• Experience on ERRVs is required.
• OPITO ERRV ITSO and FRC Boatman courses are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain operational status of ship, machinery, propulsion systems and equipment.
• Ensure safety of personnel within sphere of influence.
• Maintain vessel and machinery in sound condition for operations.
• Report defects to Chief Engineer.
• Identify stores requirements, spares and equipment for Engine Dept.
• Execute Planned Maintenance System on board.
• Monitor safe working practices of shore contractors during maintenance.
• Examine and accept stores and spares delivered to the vessel.
• Assist fuelling procedures with safety precautions.
• Promote Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
• Promote inter-departmental communications.
