Job summary

North Star is recruiting a 3rd Engineer for its ERRV/MRV fleet in offshore Aberdeen. The role is a permanent position with a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation, starting 25 September 2026.

Candidates should hold a 3rd Engineer CoC and preferably have ERRV or similar vessel experience. We offer a competitive salary, 28 days on/off rotation, a contributory pension, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid 3rd Engineer CoC.
• Experience on ERRV or similar vessel preferred.
• Offshore sea-going experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operational status of the ship and its machinery.
• Ensure safety of personnel within the vessel’s sphere of influence.
• Maintain vessel and onboard machinery for readiness.
• Report defects to the Chief Engineer.
• Identify stores, spares and engine department requirements.
• Execute actions to satisfy the company PM system onboard.
• Monitor safe practices of shore contractors during maintenance.
• Assist in fuelling procedures with proper precautions.
• Promote and implement the company QHSE policies.
• Foster inter-departmental communication.

3rd Engineer Is Responsible For The Following

• The operational status of the ship, its machinery, propulsion systems and technical equipment permanently installed on board
• The safety of personnel within sphere of influence.
• The maintenance of the vessel, machinery installed on board in a sound condition ready for operations.
• Reporting any defects to the plant and machinery installed on board to the Chief Engineer.
• Recognising stores requirements, spares and equipment for the Engine Department.
• The execution of actions to fulfil the approved company Planned Maintenance System on board
• Monitoring safe working practices of shore contractors during periods of maintenance.
• Examining and accepting stores and spares delivered to the vessel,.
• Assisting in the fuelling procedure to ensure all precautions are being adhered to.
• Actively promoting and progressing the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
• Actively promoting inter-departmental communications.
