Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an Equipment Technician in Derby to support the processing, maintenance, storage and distribution of specialist plant and equipment across our projects.

The role involves inspecting, testing, maintaining and dispatching equipment to high standards while delivering excellent customer service. You will work within a flexible team and contribute to stock accuracy and administration records.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of the department and work closely with Team Leaders.
• Process equipment bookings, stock movements and requisitions accurately and efficiently.
• Inspect, test, calibrate and maintain equipment to required standards.
• Pick, pack, load and unload equipment for transportation to and from sites.
• Ensure equipment is stored, identified and tracked correctly.
• Complete all paperwork and system updates accurately and within required timescales.
• Support annual stock takes and inventory control activities.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across stores and work areas.
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental requirements, including relevant equipment regulations.
• Provide support across Goods In, Goods Out, Maintenance and Administration functions as required.

About the Role:

Balfour Beatty is seeking an Equipment Technician to join our Asset & Technology Solutions team in Derby. This is a hands‑on role supporting the efficient processing, maintenance, storage and distribution of specialist plant and equipment used across our projects.

Working as part of a flexible team, you will help ensure equipment is inspected, tested, maintained and dispatched to the highest standards, while providing excellent customer service and maintaining accurate stock and administration records.

What you'll be doing

Who we're looking for

Essential:

• Experience working within a stores, warehouse or equipment environment.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Good awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Flexible approach to working hours and activities.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.

Desirable:

• Experience inspecting, servicing or maintaining specialist equipment.
• Knowledge of lifting equipment and associated regulations.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid forklift and/or telehandler certification.
• Full UK driving licence.
• LEEA qualifications or equivalent industry knowledge.
• Experience working with customers and equipment maintenance records.
