Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Hire Controller for a busy Pontefract team. You will coordinate engineer workloads, manage quotes, invoicing and stock levels, and deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.

We prefer candidates with a background in powered access or plant hire. The role includes compliance checks (LOLER and PDI), fleet and driver administration, and supporting the hire desk with enquiries and contracts.

Qualifications

• Proven background in administration, coordination, or a similar support-focused role.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing.
• Highly organised, with excellent time management and the ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively.
• Confident using technology and a range of Microsoft Office applications.
• Comfortable working independently, managing responsibilities with minimal supervision, and remaining effective in a fast-paced environment.
• Thorough and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
• Familiarity with Xero would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
• Previous experience within the equipment hire industry or in an engineering support role would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineer workloads, schedules, overtime and client communication.
• Manage job reports, quotes, invoicing, stock levels and parts supply.
• Support hire desk enquiries, contracts, logistics and telesales.
• Maintain hire equipment compliance, including LOLER and PDI requirements.
• Manage parts enquiries, supplier liaison and stock records, including van stock.
• Oversee driver, vehicle and fleet compliance, tracking and audit records.
• Manage visitors and contractors, including sign-in, documentation, safety and PPE.
• Provide general administration, customer support and GDPR compliance while maintaining a high level of organisation and attention to detail.
