Job summary

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is seeking an Equine Yard Technician for the Berkshire College of Agriculture campus. The role is 16 hours per week, Fridays and Saturdays, 12 months a year, on the Support Staff scale G17–G19.

The post combines direct horse care with practical instructional support for students, including supervision of yard sessions and assistance for learners with additional needs.

Qualifications

• Level 3 equine qualification and Level 2 English and Maths required, with practical horse-handling experience.
• Solid administrative skills and IT proficiency are essential.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive teaching is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of horse welfare and stable routines.
• Exercise horses and identify veterinary or farrier needs.
• Support students by demonstrating techniques and supervising yard sessions.
• Prepare equipment for daily lessons and assist groups with learning needs.
• Manage yard resources, operate college vehicles/tractors, and carry out risk assessments.
