Job summary

Hartpury University and Hartpury College are seeking a research support role to aid a project on exercise selection and its effects on muscle activity and movement adaptation. You will assist with data collection, horse recruitment, and data processing within a collaborative team at Hartpury and partner universities.

Qualifications

• Hold a BSc (Hons) or MSc in Equine Science, Animal Science, Biomechanics, Sports Science, or related discipline.
• Excellent horse handling skills and confidence working with horses in a research environment.
• Experience supporting data collection and analysis activities.
• Be highly organised with accurate digital record-keeping.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis software.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a research project on exercise selection and muscle activity.
• Provide practical, technical and administrative support to academic staff and the Equine Therapy Centre team.
• Assist with horse recruitment, selection and preparation for research activities.
• Support data collection using sEMG and Qualisys motion capture technology.
• Contribute to data processing, analysis and accurate record-keeping.
• Collaborate with researchers at Hartpury University and the University of Lancashire.
• Help advance knowledge of equine exercise, muscle activity and movement adaptation.
