Job summary

Correct EPOS Ltd, trading as SmartOn, is seeking a part-time, on-site EPOS Field Technician based in Sheffield to install, configure and test EPOS terminals, peripherals and software at customer sites across Sheffield and the surrounding area.

You will diagnose faults, support customers on-site, and hand complex issues to the support team, while keeping accurate service records and maintaining a high standard of professional service.

Qualifications

• Hands-on EPOS hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Professional, friendly on-site manner and clear explanations.
• Basic networking knowledge (routers, cabling, IP settings) and Windows familiarity.
• Good time management across several jobs per day.
• Careful, accurate record-keeping.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to handle tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Install and set up EPOS terminals, printers, card terminals and other peripherals.
• Diagnose hardware, software and network faults, and repair or replace equipment.
• Ensure every system is fully working before you leave the site.
• Show customers how to use key features and basic troubleshooting.
• Pass complex issues to the support team and collaborate to resolve them.
• Carry out scheduled service visits and keep service tickets up to date.

The role

This is a part-time, on-site EPOS Field Technician role based in Sheffield. You'll install, configure and test EPOS terminals, peripherals and software at customer sites across Sheffield and the surrounding area.

What you'll do

• Install and set up EPOS terminals, printers, card terminals and other peripherals
• Diagnose hardware, software and network faults, and repair or replace equipment
• Make sure every system is fully working before you leave the site
• Show customers how to use key features and handle basic troubleshooting themselves
• Pass complex issues to the support team and work with them to resolve them
• Carry out scheduled service visits and keep service tickets, equipment records and parts inventory up to date

What we're looking for

• Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting EPOS hardware, peripherals or similar IT equipment
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• A professional, friendly manner on site, and the ability to explain technical things simply
• Basic networking knowledge (routers, cabling, IP settings) and familiarity with Windows
• Good time management across several jobs a day
• Careful, accurate record-keeping
• A full UK driving licence, and the ability to carry and use tools and equipment safely

Nice to have

• Previous experience in EPOS, IT field service or technical support
• A technical qualification or apprenticeship in IT, electronics or a related field
