Job description

Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Environmental Technician based at our Rotherham site. The primary responsibility is to assist the regional environmental field services department with environmental testing and reporting at project sites.

This role offers excellent career progression with full on-site training, including working toward an MCERTS qualification in Stack Emissions Testing. The training period, including assessments, lasts approximately 2-2.5 years, with pay increments at each stage.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Team Leader during on-site sampling and monitoring activities
  • Drive to client sites
  • Conduct site inductions and participate in risk assessments
  • Access monitoring locations and set up equipment
  • Operate sampling and test equipment to measure emission levels
  • Compile site information related to monitoring and process activities
  • Communicate with customer contacts, regulators, etc.
  • Follow company and client health and safety protocols
  • Clean, prepare, repair, calibrate, and maintain test equipment
  • Maintain stocks of consumable items
  • Handle and ship samples to laboratories
  • Maintain records in accordance with our accredited QMS

Skills / Qualifications

  • Interest in environmental monitoring and industrial processes
  • Ideally qualified to A-Level, HNC, or Degree in an environmental-related subject, but not essential
  • A full driving license is essential due to extensive travel, including overnight stays
  • Good team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
  • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, in physically strenuous situations, and handling scientific equipment manually
  • Attention to detail and a desire to provide excellent customer service are desirable qualities
