Job description

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Environmental Technician based at our Stockport site. The primary responsibility is to assist the regional environmental field services team in environmental testing and reporting at project sites.

We offer excellent career progression with comprehensive on-site training, aiming toward MCERTS qualification in Stack Emissions Testing. The training period, including assessments, lasts 2-2.5 years with pay increments at each stage.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Team Leader during on-site sampling and monitoring activities
  • Drive to client sites
  • Conduct site inductions and participate in risk assessments
  • Access monitoring locations and set up equipment
  • Operate sampling and testing equipment to measure emission levels
  • Collect and collate site information related to monitoring and process activities
  • Communicate effectively with customers, regulators, etc.
  • Follow health and safety protocols of the company and clients
  • Clean, prepare, repair, calibrate, and maintain test equipment
  • Manage stocks of consumables
  • Handle and ship samples to laboratories
  • Maintain records in accordance with our accredited QMS
Skills / Qualifications

  • Interest in environmental monitoring and industrial processes
  • Qualification in environmental-related subjects (A-Level, HNC, Degree) is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in a similar role is advantageous; full training will be provided
  • Valid driving license is essential due to extensive travel, including overnight stays
  • Good team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in physically demanding situations, including manual handling of equipment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to customer service are desirable qualities
