Veolia is hiring an Environmental Technician to support monitoring programs across three Hampshire Energy Recovery Facilities. You will coordinate sampling, manage schedules, and ensure reports meet regulatory requirements.

We seek candidates with a degree in an environmental or scientific field, an interest in waste management, and a full UK driving licence. You will engage with regulators and internal teams, contributing to continuous environmental improvements and compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in environmental/scientific discipline.
• Interest in waste management and Energy Recovery Facilities.
• Understanding of environmental monitoring and compliance.
• Full UK driving licence (travel between sites).

Responsabilités

• Support the delivery of the environmental monitoring programme across three Energy Recovery Facilities in Hampshire.
• Coordinate monitoring activities, maintain schedules, and help ensure timely, accurate reports.
• Carry out sampling and monitoring in line with Environmental Permit requirements.
• Support communication with regulatory bodies including Environment Agency and water companies.
• Maintain environmental performance data, KPIs and monitoring records.
• Help identify trends and contribute to summary reports on facility performance.
• Liaise with operations teams and contractors to support monitoring activities.
• Maintain monitoring equipment and escalate issues as needed.
• Assist Facility Managers with environmental compliance and queries.
• Assist with contractor audits and annual environmental reporting.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting the delivery of the environmental monitoring programme across three Energy Recovery Facilities in Hampshire
• Coordinating monitoring activities, maintaining schedules and helping ensure reports are completed accurately and on time
• Carrying out sampling and monitoring in line with Environmental Permit requirements
• Supporting communication with regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency, local authorities and water companies
• Maintaining environmental performance data, KPIs and monitoring records
• Helping identify trends and contributing to summary reports on facility performance
• Liaising with operational teams and third-party contractors to support the delivery of environmental monitoring activities
• Helping maintain monitoring equipment and infrastructure, and escalating any issues appropriately
• Supporting Facility Managers with environmental compliance and legislation queries
• Assisting with contractor audits and annual environmental reporting
• Keeping up to date with relevant environmental legislation and industry developments
• Contributing to continuous improvement across environmental monitoring and compliance activities

What we’re looking for

• A degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental, scientific or related discipline
• An interest in waste management and Energy Recovery Facilities
• An understanding of environmental monitoring and compliance
• Awareness of waste and environmental legislation
• The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders
• A full UK driving licence, as travel between sites will be required
