Job summary

Veolia in Portsmouth, Hampshire, is seeking an Environmental Technician to help deliver the environmental monitoring programme across three Energy Recovery Facilities. The role requires coordinating monitoring activities, sampling, and ensuring reporting deadlines are met.

You will support regulatory communications, maintain performance data and contribute to trend analysis, while liaising with operations teams and contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental or scientific field is required.
• Interest in waste management and Energy Recovery Facilities
• Understanding of environmental monitoring and compliance; awareness of waste legislation
• Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders
• Full UK driving licence; travel between sites will be required

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the environmental monitoring programme across three Energy Recovery Facilities in Hampshire
• Coordinate monitoring activities, maintain schedules and ensure reports are completed on time
• Carry out sampling and monitoring in line with Environmental Permit requirements
• Assist with regulatory communication with Environment Agency and water companies
• Maintain environmental performance data, KPIs and monitoring records
• Identify trends and contribute to facility performance reports
• Liaise with operational teams and third-party contractors to deliver monitoring activities
• Maintain monitoring equipment and escalate issues as needed
• Support Facility Managers with environmental compliance and legislation queries
• Assist with contractor audits and annual environmental reporting
• Keep up to date with relevant environmental legislation and industry developments
• Contribute to continuous improvement across environmental monitoring and compliance activities

What you’ll be doing;

• Supporting the delivery of the environmental monitoring programme across three Energy Recovery Facilities in Hampshire
• Coordinating monitoring activities, maintaining schedules and helping ensure reports are completed accurately and on time
• Carrying out sampling and monitoring in line with Environmental Permit requirements
• Supporting communication with regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency, local authorities and water companies
• Maintaining environmental performance data, KPIs and monitoring records
• Helping identify trends and contributing to summary reports on facility performance
• Liaising with operational teams and third-party contractors to support the delivery of environmental monitoring activities
• Helping maintain monitoring equipment and infrastructure, and escalating any issues appropriately
• Supporting Facility Managers with environmental compliance and legislation queries
• Assisting with contractor audits and annual environmental reporting
• Keeping up to date with relevant environmental legislation and industry developments
• Contributing to continuous improvement across environmental monitoring and compliance activities

What we’re looking for;

• A degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental, scientific or related discipline
• An interest in waste management and Energy Recovery Facilities
• An understanding of environmental monitoring and complianceAwareness of waste and environmental legislation
• The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders
• A full UK driving licence, as travel between sites will be required
