Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support the delivery of sustainability on major projects in the UK. You will oversee environmental management, compliance, and reporting while guiding site teams on mitigation measures and regulatory interactions.

The role includes liaising with clients and authorities, maintaining plans and risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to evolving standards and legislation on site.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental science, management, or related field.
• Experience with environmental legislation, ecology/archaeology mitigation, licences/permits.
• Understanding of construction/engineering environments and NSIPs or DCO is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and monitor environmental projects and enhancements on sites.
• Maintain environmental plans, risk assessments, and information packs.
• Liaise with clients, regulators, and subcontractors on environmental matters.
• Provide on-site guidance on compliance and site-specific mitigation measures.
• Investigate incidents and support controls to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure project sites implement environmental management systems and stay updated with standards.
