Job summary

Principal People Recruitment is seeking an Environmental Advisor to support major infrastructure projects within the Thames Water region. The role is hybrid with travel, collaborating with operational and project teams to implement environmental strategies and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will review high-risk documents, conduct site inspections, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance across the framework.

Qualifications

• Environmental qualification or related degree required.
• ISEP Practitioner membership or working towards would be advantageous.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, management systems and risk management.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage operational teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of the environmental strategy across the framework.
• Provide practical environmental advice to operational and site teams.
• Review high-risk method statements, risk assessments and environmental documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, environmental reviews and audits.
• Support environmental compliance across all project stages.
• Investigate environmental incidents and non-conformities, identify root causes and support corrective actions.
• Monitor environmental performance through KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Deliver environmental briefings, training and best practice guidance.
• Support supply chain onboarding and ongoing environmental performance monitoring.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders.
