Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our environment team, co-located across the UK, to support regional design and operation staff in delivering environmental improvements on water and wastewater projects.

You will identify environmental risks, coordinate inputs from ecology, heritage and other disciplines, and deliver environmental plans and permit applications while liaising with regulators and clients to drive compliant project delivery.

Qualifications

• Chartered with a relevant professional body or actively working towards chartership.
• Awareness of the planning process in the water sector, including surveys and permits/consents.
• Experience in producing environmental permit applications (e.g., flood risk activities, Tree Protection Orders, groundwater permits).
• Experience recommending sustainability initiatives, including biodiversity net gain.
• Support development and delivery of environmental training across the business.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Identify environmental risks across the project lifecycle and support mitigation.
• Coordinate inputs from heritage, ecology, geomorphology and other disciplines.
• Deliver environmental deliverables at project milestones (e.g., EIA screening, management plans).
• Lead liaison with environmental regulators and communicate with team and stakeholders.
• Engage with clients on environmental and consenting matters and build relationships.
