Jackson Hogg has partnered with a specialist manufacturing business in the Newton Aycliffe area to recruit an Environmental Specialist, reporting to the HSE Manager.

As an Environmental Specialist, your responsibilities will include ensuring that the site, its process plant, employees, and contractors operate in compliance with current legislation, guidance, and procedures.

The primary focus of this role is to collaborate closely with environmental agencies and specialist consultants to ensure that the plant and equipment are designed and operated in accordance with our licences to operate, maintaining full compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Apply and demonstrate practical skills related to ISO14001 Environmental Standards.
2. Coordinate with internal and external monitoring and analytical companies/contractors, ensuring corrective actions are implemented based on test results, such as Legionella control in cooling towers and facility water supplies.
3. Monitor and maintain environmental consents in line with the IPPC Permit, including discharges to atmosphere, ground, drainage, and rivers. This includes managing areas like plant effluent processes, scrubber systems, trade test pits, and out-of-specification tank controls.
4. Work effectively with offsite waste and chemical analysis companies to ensure corrective actions are taken regarding plant effluent control systems based on test results.
