Job Description:

Jackson Hogg has partnered with a specialist manufacturing business in the Newton Aycliffe area on an Environmental Specialist position, reporting to the HSE Manager.

The role involves ensuring that the site, its process plant, employees, and contractors operate in compliance with current legislation, guidance, and procedures.

The primary focus is working closely with environmental agencies and consultants to ensure the plant and equipment are designed and operated to meet licensing requirements.

• Applying ISO14001 Environmental Standards effectively.
• Collaborating with monitoring and analytical companies to ensure corrective actions are taken based on test results, such as Legionella control.
• Maintaining environmental consents in accordance with the IPPC Permit, including discharge management.
• Working with waste and chemical analysis companies to ensure compliance and corrective actions.
• Ensuring laboratories operate within ISO accreditation standards (ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
• Streamlining waste monitoring programs with KPIs and dashboards.
• Managing waste transfer documentation and liaising with external bodies for waste disposal.
• Providing systems and information to site teams to protect against chemical hazards, complying with CHIP 2002.
• Developing systems for chemical usage and storage in line with COSHH 2002.
• Implementing health monitoring systems to ensure compliance with REACH regulations.
• Leading the introduction and use of new chemicals and raw materials.
• Developing strategies to foster a positive HSE culture, including behavioral safety.
• Coordinating with occupational health providers for onsite health screening.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments and on COMAH sites.
• Involvement with emergency response teams.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring and waste management principles.
• Proficiency in PC skills for documentation and system implementation.
• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
• Decisive, accurate, creative, and forward-thinking.

Education/Qualifications
