Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in the United Kingdom is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager to join our Environmental Project Management team.

You will work closely with Senior Project Managers and Technical Leads to deliver multi-disciplinary environmental projects across the UK, supporting public and private sector clients. You'll contribute to the PMO community, grow your core project management skills, and have opportunities to progress toward a Senior Environmental Project Manager role

Qualifications

• Experience working as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager within a project or PMO environment within environmental or sustainability sectors.
• Understanding of programme management with WBS, dependencies and critical path; familiarity with MS Project/Primavera P6.
• Budget management, tracking performance and change control; experience delivering projects within budget; NEC3/4 familiarity is advantageous.
• Confident written and verbal communicator, keeping teams and stakeholders informed.
• Working towards or holding membership of PMI/APM/MIEnvSc/MIEMA/MRICS; chartership welcomed.
• Interest in environment and sustainable land development; proactive attitude to grow your career.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of project proposals, helping to define requirements, scope, resourcing, programme and budget for successful delivery.
• Create and maintain clear, well-structured project documentation such as project plans, cost forecasts, risk registers and schedules taking ownership on smaller projects and supporting Senior Project Managers on larger, more complex work.
• Keep projects on track by actively monitoring progress and helping to drive delivery against agreed timelines.
• Manage project costs day-to-day, including tracking time, budgets, forecasts and spend, ensuring everything stays aligned with progress.
• Ensure health and safety requirements are in place for site visits, including securing the necessary internal approvals.
• Support contract management and administration activities to keep projects running smoothly and compliantly.
• Proactively manage change and risk, working closely with technical teams to ensure projects stay aligned with scope, contractual requirements and governance standards.
• Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, helping to coordinate and develop colleagues, partners and suppliers.
• Champion environmental outcomes, supporting the delivery of sustainability, future-ready and net zero ambitions across projects.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders, with opportunities to represent the Environment and Consents team and act as a trusted point of contact.
