Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an Enforcement Officer to patrol council car parks and on-street locations, monitor parking restrictions, and issue Penalty Charge Notices where appropriate. You will also investigate environmental offences and take enforcement action as required.

The role requires strong communication, resilience, and the ability to engage with a wide range of people, including handling difficult conversations in a calm, professional manner.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications).
• Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
• Ability to handle difficult situations confidently and professionally.
• Full driving licence.
• Flexibility to work a rota, including evenings, weekends, and occasional work outside normal office hours.
• Physically fit and able to patrol areas on foot for the duration of the working day.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Council car parks and on-street locations to monitor compliance with parking restrictions and issue Penalty Charge Notices where appropriate.
• Investigate environmental offences, including littering, fly-tipping, dog control offences, and abandoned vehicles, taking enforcement action where necessary.
• Engage with members of the public, explain legislation and policies clearly, and make evidence-based decisions.
• Maintain professionalism and manage conflict in challenging situations.
