Job Title: Environmental Operative

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £23,202.51 per annum

Working Hours: Full Time – 35 Hours

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

The difference you will make as an Environmental Service Operative

In this role, you will undertake a range of grounds maintenance work within your assigned region, including landscaped areas, gardens, and open spaces owned by the Group. Ideally, you will provide community insight by reporting environmental issues, community safety concerns, or resident feedback to the Environmental Supervisor as appropriate. You will also ensure that work activities comply with the organisation’s policies, procedures, and external statutory and regulatory obligations.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Environmental Services / grounds maintenance experience.
• Ability to undertake manual work.
• Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
• Clean driving licence.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Role Profile

• Undertake general maintenance to hard and soft landscaped areas owned by the Group, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter picking, leaf clearing, and shrub bed cultivation.
• Respond quickly and flexibly to remove fly tipping, rubbish, and graffiti.
• Maintain safe working practices when using hand tools and machinery.
• Report health, safety, and environmental breaches to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor as per the escalation route.
• Deliver excellent customer service, embodying ‘Our Riverside Way’ within the environmental service.
• Report environmental issues, safety concerns, or resident feedback to the Environmental Supervisor as appropriate.
• Maintain effective relationships with colleagues across contracts.
• Engage in personal development and training to stay up-to-date with relevant legislation.
• Work collaboratively and flexibly across all teams within the organisation.
• Ensure all activities comply with policies, procedures, and statutory obligations.
• Respond flexibly to work priority changes and undertake other duties to support the service.
• Contribute to process and procedure improvements.
