Job summary

Carbon 60 is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager for a major energy infrastructure project in Scotland. The role involves leading environmental and sustainability activities across the project, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry best practice.

The position requires capability to handle demanding stakeholders, substantial documentation, and a proactive approach to environmental risk management.

Qualifications

  • Chartered IEMA status preferred
  • Experience on major construction, infrastructure, utilities or energy projects
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills
  • Good IT skills and ability to challenge site activities when needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance on environmental and sustainability matters
  • Ensure management controls are in place and that personnel understand their environmental responsibilities
  • Support site management in maintaining compliance with project environmental requirements
  • Lead or support investigations into environmental incidents, identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Review environmental performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and implement environmental improvement initiatives and awareness campaigns
  • Prepare and review environmental plans, procedures and supporting documentation
  • Identify significant environmental risks and ensure appropriate controls
  • Manage environmental consents, permits, licences and exemptions as required
  • Produce environmental reports, presentations and performance updates
  • Support tender submissions and environmental award applications
  • Collaborate with project teams, clients, regulators and external stakeholders
