Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment on behalf of a client seeks an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to lead environmental improvements, manage a small team, and engage with suppliers, customers, NGOs and government bodies. Some foreign travel is required and reporting to the Managing Director.

You will collaborate with management and purchasing to govern environmental compliance across the business, ensure compliance with UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation, Modern Slavery

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with management and purchasing to manage environmental compliance and purchasing governance.
• Ensure compliance with UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation, Modern Slavery Act, and EUDR Compliance.
• Maintain a robust due diligence system for supplier assessment and auditing.
• Be a key point of contact for internal and external compliance queries.
• Report to government enforcement bodies, certification schemes and trade associations.
• Monitor progress and report to the Board of Directors.
• Represent the company at external committees and coordinate with external providers.
• Work with the Quality Manager to embed compliance into procedures.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this pivotal role involves driving environmental improvements across the company, managing a small team, and engaging with various stakeholders including suppliers, customers, NGOs, and government bodies. The role also requires some foreign travel.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Collaborate with the management and purchasing team to manage corporate environmental compliance and purchasing governance.
• Ensure all processes comply with the UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation, Modern Slavery Act, and EUDR Compliance.
• Maintain a robust due diligence system to ensure compliance with the UK Timber Regulation, including assessing and auditing suppliers, and coordinating with external service providers.
• Serve as a key point of contact for any legal compliance queries, both internal and external.
• Report to government enforcement bodies, certification schemes, and trade associations.
• Monitor progress and report to the Board of Directors.
• Represent the company at external committees, supporting wider industry improvements.
• Develop internal training materials, marketing, and communication content and coordinate with relevant external service providers.
• Work with the Quality Manager to ensure environmental compliance is successfully incorporated into company procedures.
